Description

The horizontal outrigger cylinder, also known as an outrigger extension cylinder, is a double-acting hydraulic actuator used to extend and retract the outrigger beam of a truck-mounted crane.


By controlling the horizontal position of the outrigger beam, the cylinder allows the crane to achieve the required outrigger span before the vertical outrigger cylinders are deployed. This helps configure a stable working base according to crane size, available site space and lifting conditions.

How the Horizontal Outrigger Cylinder Works


The horizontal outrigger cylinder is installed inside or alongside the crane outrigger beam assembly. Hydraulic pressure moves the piston rod to extend or retract the telescoping outrigger beam.

During crane setup, the cylinder extends the beam outward to increase the distance between the left and right outriggers. After the required span is reached, the vertical outrigger cylinders lower the stabilizer feet and support the crane on the ground.

When lifting work is completed, the vertical outriggers retract first, followed by the horizontal cylinders retracting the outrigger beams into their transport position.

Extreme pressure bearing capacity:

Working pressure of 20-34 MPa, peak pressure exceeding 40 MPa, single cylinder can provide 17-28 tons of horizontal thrust, stably supporting the lateral load of the whole vehicle during lifting operations, and coping with the overturning moment when lifting heavy objects.


Impact resistance and stability:

Adopting reinforced cylinder/piston rod materials (such as 27SiMn alloy steel) and multi-layer sealing system, it absorbs the instantaneous impact of leg extension and stop, suppresses hydraulic oil leakage, ensures stable horizontal support of legs, and avoids deviation during vehicle operation.

Millimeter level synchronization accuracy: Combined with proportional valve control and displacement feedback device, the synchronization error of the multi leg horizontal oil cylinder is ≤ 2mm, ensuring that the lateral span of the legs is consistent, maintaining the balance of the crane operation posture, and improving the safety of lifting.


Ultra long service life:

The surface is plated with hard chromium (20-30 μm) and treated with phosphating, which has excellent corrosion and wear resistance. In frequent horizontal expansion and contraction operations, the service life is ≥ 100000 cycles, suitable for high-intensity construction rhythm of on-board cranes.


Safety redundancy design:

Built in locking valve+emergency pressure holding circuit, in case of sudden pressure loss, the support legs are locked in their current position to prevent changes in the support span; The cylinder body is equipped with an overload protection structure to avoid the risk of overpressure damage and safeguard the safety of lifting operations.
